I've raised £3000 to Resurface and improve drainage on the Axbridge-Cheddar Cycleway in Cheddar - a "Safe Route to School", part of The Strawberry Line and NCN26

The Axbridge-Cheddar Cycleway was created over 30 years ago on part of the closed Strawberry Line after a Kings of Wessex schoolboy suffered a bad accident cycling to school on the road from Axbridge. It was created and is maintained entirely by voluntary effort not just as a Safe Route to School but also as an increasingly popular route for visitors and local walkers. It is in line with Sedgemoor's local plan to provide sustainable infrastructure for all members of the community.
Increased housing in the area means that it's all the more important to keep up our original aim of safe travel for schoolchildren. We have some of our own funds but we have to keep a reserve for year round maintenance on the whole track. Capital for this major project is beyond our resources, but we would like to feel that everyone in both communities, Cheddar and Axbridge, can have a share in making it a success. We are also approaching local businesses for support.
