Story
A replacement Day Opportunities facility will enable us to offer 12 additional day opportunity placements to clients with Learning Disability and associated complex needs i.e Behavioural Challenges, Mental Ill health and or physical disabilities ( Total of 24 placements). It is our groups intention to have a progressive person centred innovative facility designed and co-worked by those clients attending this facility.
These clients require accessible spacious facilities which will available for them over the Monday to Saturday period, clients have also requested evening socialisation opportunities to promote local integration. An accessible coffee shop will be available to promote ordinary
dining and integration opportunities with customers from the local community and those using the MultiSensory facility. Furniture and equipment will be required to be modern, bright accessible and robust to meet the diverse needs of the user groups.
The adjoining MultiSensory centre will offer a 7 day service to children and adults of all ages from 0 - 90 years, this facility will meet the needs of clients on the Autistic Spectrum, Learning Disability, Mental Ill Health, Brain Injury, Dementia and mainstream children. The current MultiSensory facility has been operational for almost 2 years
and whilst occupancy and feedback is good, it is not large enough to meet the needs of older users, it does not have independent changing places facilities nor does it offer the safety and security benchmark that we would require. The current building cannot support hoisting facilities, which are imperative for many of this client group.
The current facility is utilised by Specialschools, Adult day Centres, Nursing Homes, Parents and carers and their children and young adults, COS groups, Surestart groups etc….We also act as a training facility for users of multisensory equipment in their own homes, centres etc.
