I've raised £250 to host an underground art auction for Manchester Mind

On the 14th of December 2017, our collective Funraising is holding a silent art auction, ArtBox and a club night, PostBox, in Withington, South Manchester. ArtBox will be at Solomon's Cafe Bar from 5:30pm - 10pm, and PostBox will run at Indigo from 9:30pm until the venue's close. Both events are set to feature jazz bands and local DJs.
Each year, 1 in 4 people will experience a mental health problem. It is clear that mental health is becoming an increasingly prevalent issue.
At the same time, there are so many talented, and sometimes voiceless artists out there who have the power to persuade emotion and make people happy, and to make people think. Art and mental health go hand in hand. We want to put some beautiful work on display, to give students access to the ownership of some amazing art, to give underground artists a platform, and make a direct difference for mental health all at once.
Mind has recently revealed that it no longer has the funding to provide counselling. This is shocking to hear, and feels like a huge step backwards. Awareness of mental health issues is important, but it's not enough on its own, seeing as it's such a far-reaching and large issue. We're determined to try and help in any way that we can.
Even though Solomon's in Withington, South Manchester have very kindly agreed to let us host ArtBox in its space, what remains to be sourced, are basic materials for our artists to work with, funds to print with and frames to put the pieces in. Even though we at Funraising all care very much, and are trying our best to front some money, we are students, and need a lot of help. Without any kind donations, unfortunately we won't be able to put on ArtBox, so please think about chucking us a couple of quid x
