Story

Arjuna and Steffen are aiming to raise £1 for every mile of their 956-mile cycling route from John O’Groats to Lands End. This will be a huge step towards the Yak Pack Theatre Project meeting their goals, especially as so many fund-raising events were cancelled this summer.

The Yak Pack Theatre Project is all about sharing the joy and drama of storytelling with school children in the remote Himalayas, developing their love of reading for pleasure and all the benefits that brings. Many of their teachers are first generation readers themselves and reading for fun is quite new to them. The team will be performing live story telling theatre, holding reading aloud workshops, and taking books to the schoolchildren there.

Spiti, a beautiful but very isolated valley in the Himalayas, is becoming a popular hiking destination, and increasingly having to deal with the problem of plastic pollution. The Yak Pack is working with local groups who are trying to combat this and find positive solutions. The topic will be brought to the children in the form of an interactive play called Rubbish Heap Rising.....
