I've raised £2000 to help give Archie Hughes the best funeral and celebration of life that he deserves.

On 23rd January 2022, at the tender age of just 11 years old, we unexpectedly and tragically lost our gorgeous Archie.
Archie had a lifelong history with asthma, and after attending a family celebration on Saturday 22nd January, Archie had a suspected asthma attack at home and went into cardiac arrest. Despite the heroic efforts of the staff at Birmingham Children’s Hospital, they were unable to resuscitate our beautiful boy and he passed away in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Archie was the absolute life and soul of everywhere he went. On the Saturday night in question, he was socialising, making jokes and charming everyone he met at the party.
This was exactly what Archie was like - he was a sunny young boy with a smile that lit up his whole face; he had a fantastic sense of humour and a personality and wisdom beyond his years. He was kind and caring and loving, in particular towards his new baby cousin Rory.
Football was his whole world - an avid Aston Villa fan, there wasn’t anything he couldn’t tell you about the club or its players. He had also just started senior school in September 2021, attending Archbishop Ilsley Catholic Secondary where his teachers would often contact his family directly to say how well he was progressing at school. His headteacher described him as ‘a superstar’, which he absolutely was.
As a family, we are absolutely heartbroken and devastated beyond words at Archie’s passing and our priority now is to take care and support one another and plan the celebration of life that Archie deserves.
We know many of you will have been affected by Archie’s passing, as he touched the lives of so many people during his 11 years. Therefore, we have created this JustGiving page as a place where you may leave your expressions of sympathy and donations, which the family can use to help them pay for the best funeral and celebration we can give our darling boy.
We would like to thank you wholeheartedly for your outpouring of love and support during this very difficult time.
God Bless,
The Hughes family - Laura, Andy, Julie, Alex, Ryan, Michela and Rory xxx
