Hello everyone and thank you for taking your time to read Stanley's story. The fact you're taking your time to even have a glimpse of this page means so much to me.

Stanley has Cranial Cruciate Ligament Disease or CrCDL for short. The Cranial Cruciate Ligament is a ligament which connects the bone above the knee to the one below it. Help Stanley to walk freely and easily when it’s functioning normally. It's essentially a stabiliser for a dog's knee joint. When a dog has Cranial Cruciate Ligament Disease, the joint stops working in the way that it is supposed to. As this disease gets worse, it leads to progressive instability of the knee joint. The consequence of which is excruciating pain, lameness and loss of comfortable range of motion in the affected limbs.

Stanley has been suffering for a while now and we have seen him go from such a bright, energetic, playful dog, always full of life and ready to go, always wants go out, play fetch (even though he never gives the ball back) to a dog that you can tell, is in so much pain. Stan doesn't like going out anymore, he used to jump as soon as you said "walkies" now he just lays there and doesn't move, he doesn't even move for his food or water anymore and we knew he was ill when he no longer cared for either of the above. All Stan want's to do now is sleep, he finds it a massive struggle to move so he just finds a spot and lays down for the majority of the day. When he does get up, it's a sore sight because you can see the fight he puts up using his back leg.

Stanley has been in my life for 10 years and I cannot imagine life without him, he is such a character and he is my best friend, seeing him suffer so much has been one of the hardest things to go through but he is still fighting through it and believe he will keep on fighting and we all love him dearly.

We have gone to a number of different vets and we have two options, one being that the we pay for the operation or that we get Stanley put to sleep so we need to try and raise as much money as possible for Stanley to have an operation on his back leg which involves the bone being realigned or a man-made solution replacing the worn ligaments within the bone area.
