Story

E's Wheels is a fundraising campaign that we started in the summer. This young person is a student in our school. He has Arthrogryposis which is characterised by multiple joint contractures of the upper and lower limbs. In essence, this causes severe restrictions to his mobility and he is fully dependent on adults for all of his needs. He is the most lovely human being - we are so grateful and happy that he is a member of our school community.

He currently has a motorised chair which enables him to be mobile. His chair restricts him to standard surfaces. In colder weather, he is unable to travel to school if there is ice or snow on the ground and his chair does not allow him to venture anywhere 'off road' as it were.

A second chair for him would be completely life changing. It would open up a world that is much more exciting and accessible to him.

Having said I would never do the Great North Run again, I decided to dust off my trainers and take part again this year because this was something that really needed addressing. This means that this person can access all of those places we all take for granted like the beach, forest trails etc.

Emily Dunlop is an ex student of the school and kindly approached us to ask if she could also support our fundraising. She will be doing the London Marathon in October. Emily works for Mental Health Concern and lives in the community. This is what the community of Prudhoe does exceptionally well and we are so grateful to Emily for supporting us in the way she is. We are so proud of her and we will be cheering her on during her 26 miles.
