Story

When you think of Kate, you dont think of Kate as your lovely friend with breast cancer, your first thought of Kate is her beautiful smile, her beautiful talented children, her unerring humour and that she is 'Mum' first and foremost.

As a Mother, as a woman, Kate is an inspiration. I'm not just saying that for the cause, those of us who know Kate know it's true. Even before cancer Kate faced many, many challenges in her life and overcame them.

She has somehow managed to continue being the wonderful Mother she has always been, as a single Mother with Breast Cancer and now with secondary cancer.

Her children are all gifted in one way or another, she has seen her two eldest children Jess and Ben through university, Jess won the Bath young persons award, Ben was continuously winning achievement awards throughout college for his course in Media. Lucy is a gifted and talented artist, who won young carer of the year award. Emily at 8 is sure to follow in her siblings footsteps or maybe end up being Prime Minister. Kates children are constantly being recognised for their achievements, and cheering them on, regardless of chemo, regardless of herceptin, regardless of radiotherapy, regardless of masectomy ops, regardless of whatever life throws at her, is their Mum Kate. She has endured all of the above with determination, dignity and her fabulous dry, witty, no bs sense of humour.

Kate does not do 'pretty pink cancer' 'secret inboxes, chain mails, mystery love hearts on walls' Kate knows how ugly cancer is, that the reality is brutal and raising awareness needs to be as public as possible, in Kates words 'Cancer is not a game'

So, after everything Kate has endured the cancer has, I don't want to say it has 'won' as that would be an insult to Kate. So, the treatment sadly has not stopped the secondary cancer from spreading. It is spreading fast, to her liver and her lungs. We already knew it was at the stage it wasn't going to go away, however we thought Kate had more time than she has.

For this reason we are trying to raise money so that Kate and her children can go away for a week to centerparcs at Longleat. To make some lasting memories.and enjoy some quality time together as a family. Kate cannot travel too far and Longleat isn't far at all.

For those of us who love and know Kate I ask not only that you donate (doesnt matter how small) but that you share, share, share her story and her cause.

From Annette, Eve and Jess

Thankyou xxxxxx
