    Story

Annabelle and Isabelle our miracle babies.

Their parents, Hannah & Dan, found out early in the pregnancy that they were having conjoined twins. This was a long waitied for pregnancy and they were committed to carrying on even though the outcome was so uncertain.

From the beginning these girls showed their determination, no one knew if they would survive the pregnancy or birth but the girls were born with lungs filled with air, screaming, showing everyone their strength and fight, we hope and pray that this determination continues to carry them through the challenges that they are going face throughout their lives.

The girls separation is planned for late May/June, this surgery is very risky and will involve a huge team at Great Ormond street hospital, after this the girls will likely have many other surgeries over their lifetime.

Their Mummy, had to move to London from their home in Northern Ireland, at 26 weeks in the pregnancy and stay until their birth at 35 weeks and a further month after delivery, with the babies in Great Ormond street hospital.

Long term the girls will need a lot of complex care and support and we want to raise funds to meet all these needs. They have fought so hard to be here and we want to provide for them as much as we can.

Their parents are so grateful for every minute that they have with Annie and Issie, the joy that they have brought them and everyone around them is truly amazing.

So much kindness and support has been shown already, its been absolutely wonderful. We feel that these girls have a place in so many peoples hearts, and that so many people are on this journey with the twins.

Hannah and Dan want to say that every penny donated to the girls is truly appreciated and will make such a difference and are so grateful for all the prayers that have been said for Annie and Issie and the miracles they have already seen.

We are home! It’s been a long hard road but our wee girls are home with us, in time for Christmas! It must be something about this time of year that makes being at home even more special. The girls are doing well, it hasn’t been easy but they are coming out the other side. Thanks for all your support and prayers. It has carried us through. Love, The Batesons

Due to staff holidays over the summer months the girls surgery was delayed until September. We are accepting of this as we want the best team possible working with the girls, not just on the day of surgery but in the weeks after as well. We are making the most of our summer at home and enjoying every day at home with the girls. The girls are really finding their voices now, I think we are going to have a very noisy house!! Thank you so much to everyone who has donated, with the cost of living these days it’s so much more generous of you all.

Yesterday should have been the day of the girls major surgery to separate them. We have mixed feelings about it being delayed, we are grateful for the extra time to spend at home with the girls and a bit of “normal” day to day life with them. But we also feel that the delay prolongs the worry and fear of waiting for it. The surgical team are now considering the surgery for mid July, to allow the girls to recover fully from having covid. Thanks for all the love and generosity you have shown us, we are totally overwhelmed.
