Story
Abbie Clark is the daughter of one of my closest friends.
Abbie is a beautiful young girl who has been attending University training to become a teacher.
Approx. 4 weeks ago Abbie came home from University for the Summer break. She became very poorly and was unable to breath.
She was rushed into hospital and taken straight into the Critical Care Unit where she has remained ever since.
She was placed on Life Support while doctors battled to save her life and find out what was wrong with her.
Abbie has contracted Guillian Barre Syndrome.
This is a rare and serious condition of the Peripheral Nervous System, basically her Immune System has attacked her nervous system.
At the present time she is paralysed, she is only able to communicate with her eyes as her parents point to the letters of the alphabet.
Her parents attend the hospital everyday form 6am -9pm. Her dad is self employed but is unable to leave his daughters bedside.
Seeing them yesterday reduced me to tears, their strength is amazing, but the pain, upset and shock at what their daughter is going through was obvious to see.
On talking to them I was shocked to discover they are paying £18 per day in parking fees.
So I was wondering if each of my facebook friends could donate £1 the money raised would really make a big difference to their situation as they continue to support their daughter who has such a long journey to travel before she will get better.
I would also like to purchase some talking books for Abbie and anything else that might aid her recovery.
Many Thanks
Anna

8 years agoYou have all been so generous and the acts of kindness and messages recevied for Abbie really have been overwhelming. Abbie will hopefully begin her Intensive Rehabilitation Therapy soon, She is now starting to show small signs of improvement, she can move her hands and has slight movement in her legs. She has been so brave, she knows that she has a long road to travel before she gets better, but she is such a fighter I know she will cross that finish line. On behalf of Mandy, Darren, and Lilly THANK YOU XXXX

9 years agoA little update on Abbie. Abbie has made some improvement, She has had movment in her fingers & hands, and her vision has improved. She is still in a great deal of pain but continues to fight on. Although she remains in Critical Care there is now some talk of her being moved to the Intensive Rehabilitaion Unit at another Hospital, but this is some way off. Abbies family are extremely thankful for the kind words, support & donations made as they continue to support Abbie Now we look to the future to help when she gets to Rehabilitation.
