Story
Hello, my name is Reina, a bilingual actress and voice actress in Tokyo.
I’ve started a project to create the world’s first internationally collaborative Japanese animation short (anime) in the spirit and celebration of “Unity in Diversity”, one of the slogans of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, called ‘Anigorin’.
In this tumultuous time and age, I strongly believe that we need to create opportunities for people of all nationalities, faiths, race, gender and creed to be able to come together, to learn about each other and establish trust and friendships whilst working towards a common goal.
I want to prove that we humans truly can do so, through this work.
Why did I feel strongly to begin? It hit me one day last year that this has actually never happened in Japan.
There has never been a true international team or collaboration that creates opportunities for talents of all nationalities in Tokyo to engage and bond through teamwork and inter-cultural communication for an anime project.
But yet, so many come to Japan to peruse their dreams and many Japanese people dream of opportunities to engage with the rest of the world, utilising English in some way, but there’s no actual system or platform to work together.
When I realised that it has never happened, I was hit with an acute purpose to create a platform for both Japanese and non-Japanese who are already engaging in activities that promote and deepen international ties between Japan and the world.
Also because it's never happened, is the VERY reason why it'd be innovative and fresh. It'd also be super exciting to witness this new reality, too and hopefully open new doors for many! As someone who has trained in the Japanese voice-acting system for years, personally, anime has a special place in my heart and my life. It's a media platform of my passion that I intend to entertain millions of people with.
The amount I’m asking for is actually a third of the overall cost but just about enough to enter into a contract and start the pre-production process of the anime with the animation studio, who has also made groundbreaking steps via their company by implementing a true international work environment with people all around the world. 100% of the proceeds will go to them and get this project off the ground!
It’s a truly ambitious project, but I hope to leave Anigorin as a legacy to inspire hope and courage to millions of people who immigrate to foreign countries for their dreams, while taking on all the linguistic and cultural challenges that come with it.
I hope to create this together with all of you around the world.
Thank you for reading about my crazy dream. Your have my deepest thanks, Reina
