Story

Hello, I’m Andrew Sayegh, i'm 13 and I’m a scout from 1st Goring.

Recently I was part of a selection process, where I was tested on all the skills I would need for the 24th World Scout Jamboree 2019 in West Virginia, USA. After multiple stages I was thrilled to be selected!

I’ll be working hard with the rest of the contingent to raise over £4,000 over the next 18 months. The money will contribute to my travel and attendance at the event, but will also contribute to fund less fortunate scouts from other countries. This allows them to attend, supporting the aim of the Jamboree to ‘Unlock a New World’.

The Jamboree is an experience that can shape the lives of young people like me, and help them as they grow, teaching them life-long qualities. It is also an educational event that brings together the world’s Scouts to promote peace and mutual understanding and to develop leadership and life skills.

I'll be meeting people from all around the world and doing all sorts of adventures; including water activities. To set me up for this challenge I’m going to jump into the freezing cold sea of the English Channel on New Year’s Day!

I would be extremely grateful if you could very kindly sponsor me for doing so. I need all your encouragement! I will film it and promise to shout out your name when I come out shivering!
