Story
Having set ourselves the physical challenge of walking the coastal route around the Isle of Wight in 2.5-3d between 20-22 April, covering approx 105km, we are hoping to raise money towards supporting special needs children at Birch Wood Special School. All money raised will be used to fund specialist equipment to help with these great kids‘ physical and educational development whilst providing us with the added motivation to help complete this circa 40k/day endurance challenge. To find out more about this great school and the positive impact they are making, check out their website www.birchwoodschool.co.uk.
Any donation, however little will be greatly appreciated, as will any motivational messages on route!
Many thanks for your support,
Andrew, James and Neil

7 years agoSo we gritted our teeth and pushed on. Many boggy bridal ways and meandering coastal paths stood in our way but we prevailed, arriving at Cowes late Sun evening in time for the late ferry. Exhausted and just about in tact😛, we declared the mission accomplished and challenge complete....until next time! We have raised over £1100 👍which is well beyond the target we set out to raise, so many thanks to everyone who supported us on this, it means a lot and so much more to the children that will benefit from the new equipment purchased.

7 years agoApologies for not posting sooner, having pushed on around the south of the island, things became increasingly tough including a sprained ankle, hot temperatures and a fair amount of mist towards the needles. Travelling 35km/day over 10hrs carrying 18kg is no mean feat and took some soul searching at times. Thinking about all the miles travelled and generous sponsorship raised for the kids at Birchwood really helped here, motivating us to push on to the final southwest corner up to Yarmouth and then straight on towards Cowes.
