Iʼve raised £401 to help Rowells in Long Eaton to restore the shop front to its former glory

Story
Vandals have repeatedly broken the windows of this wonderful shop in Long Eaton. Targeted so many times and so unfair when a small business has to keep paying out for repairs only for it to be broken again. As a community let's show these vandals we have pride in our community and help the owners of Rowells to restore the shop front to its former glory
Anyone who lives or has lived in Long Eaton will have been in this little Aladdins cave and have looked in wonder at all it holds
As a community we can come together and no matter how little you put in to the cause it all helps.
This little shop is a gem in our town and let's be honest not many towns can boast of such a business that serves its community as well as this little shop does

7 years agoI am now unsure what to do regards the funds raised as despite seeing the owner he doesn't know what he wants to do with the money and told me to do what I wanted - but it's not not my decision Two days left and I am considering refunding especially all the negative response to the Facebook page I am working away a lot right now and wonder if anyone would like to go and speak to him? Please send me a message via here or Facebook Thanks Something I had hoped would make a difference seems to have generated a lot of bad feeling x

8 years agoJust an update:- I rang the shop this morning and the lady owner is in on Thursday and I have arranged to meet her in the afternoon to discuss things. I was going to go today but the lady I spoke to said the shop was quite busy on a Saturday and that the lady owner had more understanding of how Facebook and Just Giving works If anyone wishes to come with me, feel free, just let me know please

I have a small independent business myself & know how hard it is to try and make a living & to replace sold stock, without having to replace broken windows on top...support your local shops & trades.

The vandalistic damage done to the windows is totally disrespectful, some people have no aesthetic sensibilities. Drunken idiots having a laugh? Cctv? Shutters at night?
