Anaconda Swimming Club is Islington’s only competitive swim club; covering a huge age range and ability from toddlers learn to swim up to National level competitors. We have around 500 swimmers registered on our learn-to-swim programme and around 200 in our main club. We proudly work hard to inspire children to develop their swimming skills whilst we watch them grow in confidence and ability, helping them develop into competitive athletes.

We are a not-for-profit organisation, keeping our costs down to enable families from all backgrounds to be part of our club. Unfortunately, this means we have low reserve funds for extra equipment, trips, training camps, or assistant coaches that are beneficial for further developing the club. Any extra funding is raised through voluntary fundraising.

We currently have a high fundraising target of £8,000 to purchase 4 new competition diving blocks for our Holloway Pool. At present we only have 2 non competition standard dive blocks in the entire borough that need to be shared by 200 swimmers in the club. We are competing against other clubs with insufficient training equipment which significantly stunts our performance at major competitions.

We currently have 62 swimmers competing at county level, 22 at regional level (including two regional champions) and 3 national swimmers. We are incredibly proud of our clubs achievements and with improved equipment we are certain we will achieve even greater things. New diving blocks will not only improve our training facilities, but they will keep these young people engaged in their sport and off the streets. We would like to keep their training experience fresh and exciting so that they continue to enjoy their sport into adulthood.
