Story

I am thrilled to announce that I will be running the London Marathon on Sunday 27th April 2025. This will not just be a personal challenge (the furthest I have run is 5k!), but to support a cause that is important to not only myself but to anybody that has been affected by visual complications: The Ophthalmology Department at Royal Stoke Hospital, where I am proud to be an Ophthalmic Technician.

Every day we see our patients come into our department for, in some cases, life changing visits. From patients attending their regular check ups, to providing critical eye-related emergencies. And our team is committed to delivering the best possible care to our patients. However, we face significant challenges. Despite our best efforts, we often struggle with outdated equipment, and limited resources, which makes our work even more demanding.

Our primary goal is to raise money for a slit lamp, a critical piece of equipment that allows us to examine patients’ eyes with precision and care. The slit lamp is essential for diagnosing a wide range of eye conditions and ensuring that our patients receive the best possible treatment.

However, our needs do not stop there! And any additional funds raised will go towards other vital resources and improvement with the ophthalmology department.

Every donation, no matter the size will go directly towards improving our department at Royal Stoke Hospital. Your contribution will help us immensely.

Please consider supporting my marathon run, and in doing so, support the incredible work of the Ophthalmology Department.

Together, we can support and improve our department.

Thank you for your generosity and support.

Warm regards,

Amy.
