Story
On 2nd July I will be competing (hmm... taking part and happy to finish!) the Bishops Castle tandem Triathlon! I will be swimming (1k), Liz Still will be running (10k) and we will be cycling a tandem together (35k). Feel free to come and support (and/or laugh at!) us.
This crowdfunding site is my sponsorship form in aid of 'Don't let the SpArC go out.
The SpArC sport and arts centre in Bishops Castle is in danger of closing due to funding cuts - seeing its budget cut to zero by 2017/18. In the short term we are trying to raise £50,000 to refurbish the swimming pool & its facilities. This must be done first because it is the area in greatest need of attention, is the most costly part of the facility to run and therefore most vulnerable to closure. In order to guarantee the longer term sustainability of the centre as a whole we need to raise a further £200,000. We hope this can be achieved during 2016.
Losing SpArC would be a massive blow to our community - and the end of the tandem triathlon.

Hurrah! We did it! A fantastic day at the triathlon - well run and a fabulous friendly supportive atmosphere. We had great fun dancing at the ceilidih in the evening - rather surprised we still could! We even won a prize - first local ladies team! (It was a small field). Thank you so much to everyone who has donated on this page - if you have come to this page looking to donate, you can't now on this site, but don't worry, I am making my way round everyone who said they would sponsor us and rattling the jar.

A year ago, at a pub quiz, Liz and I decided it would be a great idea to sign up for the tandem triathlon. Having not been on a bike for years, we now have to learn how to co-operate and balance on a tandem! Wish us luck! (and give us lots of money for SpArC!)
