Story
As I am sure you are aware our good friend Deanne suffered major complications when she gave birth to her daughter Freya in December last year, she had developed pre-eclampsia which sadly wasn't identified untill 36 weeks when she was taken to Torbay hospital, she had to give birth to her Daughter via emergency c section and immediately after discovered the she was suffering with a rare life threatening disease known as HELLP syndrome which meant her liver, kidneys and vital organs started shutting down. She was sedated and placed into an induced coma, rushed to King's college hospital in London where she under went a liver transplant to save her life. Deanne remained in critical condition, whilst baby Freya was suffering from Ecoli in torbay SCBU. Family and friends had to desperately wait to see how Deanne and Freya responded... luckily Freya improved and was home 9 days later. Deanne is a fighter and has come out the other side but with a long hospital stay and a long recovery process where she had to learn to walk and speak again she is on the road to complete recovery and I cannot tell you how proud we all are to know her. With a newborn baby her husband David was left holding the Fort under extreme stress, most can't even imagine how difficult this was. Deanne is finally at home with her family and we have decided to raise money to show our support and appreciation of both Torbay SCBU and King's College liver ITU ward so that the staff can continue to do the amazing work they do. In light of this Deannes husband is doing a 15,000 feet sky dive on 1st July. We are following this with an auction and raffle of some prizes donated by local and national businesses on 2nd July. Any donations are greatly appreciated and will help towards these fantastic causes.

8 years agoHi guys just wanted to thank those of you who have so far donated. Today we got together with Deanne, Dave, Freya and family and friends to celebrate Deanne's birthday which we very nearly didn't think we would be doing this year. We were able to do so due to the care Deanne and Freya received from both kings college icu and Torbays scbu which is exactly where the money raised will be going so they can carry on the great work they do. Please please please if your in a position to help by donating however little then please do so. Great causes!
