Story
Neculai is 33 years old. He has lived in the UK for 10 years and, until four years ago, had always worked. Then, through no fault of his own, he lost his job and, as a result, he found himself homeless.
Since that time, he has tried to work whenever he can, handing out magazines or newspapers to earn money to pay for food and sometimes a room in a hostel if he can afford it. However, living on the streets has taken its toll on his health, which is now quite fragile, and he has been in and out of hospital several times in the past 6 months. This makes it hard for him to keep a job, and spending long, cold days outside to earn enough money to pay for a bed for the night worsens his health.
Neculai is a familiar face in our neighbourhood and some of us, who have known him for a while, have decided to crowdfund to try to raise enough money to pay for his accommodation in a hostel during the winter and cover his basic needs.
You can be certain that all donations will be used wisely. Any money we raise will be put into an account that we will use to pay the hostel directly for Neculai’s accommodation. In addition, we hope will be able to buy food for him.
A room in a local hostel costs £20/25 per night, so we hope that if we can raise £3.000, Neculai will have somewhere to stay throughout the winter. Our hope is that if we can do this, his health will improve and that having a fixed address may enable him to get back into proper paid employment. Any amount you can give, however small, will be really appreciated.
Thank you for helping Neculai.
