Phoenix Tilley (20) and Ryan Murfet (21) will be taking part in the Skinflint Rally 2023 hosted by Coventry Round Table, where a group of customised cars, all raising funds for various charities, will drive through Europe. The Rally starts on the 28th September and finishes on the 30th September, however we will still have to get back to the UK, allowing us to drive through more of Europe on the journey home.

It will start in Dover, UK and we will drive through France, Germany, Italy, Liechtenstein and will finish in Vienna, Austria. This will be over 3,000 miles!

There is only one rule of the Skinflint Rally and that is that the car cannot cost any more than £500.

When Phoenix was 12 years old her mum, Alie Tilley, was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease. This news was devastating for the whole family. Motor Neurone Disease (MND) currently has no cure or treatment. Alie was under the specialist care of Professor Talbot at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.

Even though it was too late for Alie, she was determined to raise funds to give hope to other people who are diagnosed with MND, specifically for Professor Talbot’s Stem Cell research.

All About Alie (AAA) was created by Phoenix’s mum and a group of friends and family in February 2016, before she passed away in the May of that year. Phoenix was 13 at the time.

We will be raising funds for All About Alie where 100% of donations will help to fund Stem Cell research at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, which will help into finding a cure for Motor Neurone Disease.

We hope that by taking part in the Skinflint Rally and getting donations and support from the local community as well as friends and family, we will raise awareness, valuable funds and hope for people suffering with this cruel and life-shortening disease for which there is currently no cure.

The car which we will driving is a 2001 Renault Megane, costing only £500!

Between now and start of the Rally, this car will undergo an extensive make-over. This will be done by Phoenix and Ryan with the help of some volunteers.
