Iʼm raising £10,000 to fund a together room in Darlington hospital and to start a fund to buy a house for families to use if they have suffered tragic losses.

Don't have time to donate right now?

Story

On the 31st May my beautiful daughter and adorable grandson were tragically killed in a car crash. My 2 daughters were travelling home with my 8-month-old grandson, Zackary, who was securely fastened in his ISOFIX car seat. A car, speeding at 141mph. Driving a shocking three times over the drink-drive limit, ploughed into the back of them. The driver was also using his mobile phone, snapping a photo moments before the fatal collision with their car clearly visible in the photo and amber light flashing on his dashboard indication immediate collision. My daughter and grandson were killed. They were taken to the RVI hospital in Newcastle and we were given a Haven Room to use while there. This room can be used for families needing a quiet, private place at such a hard time. The room had its own kitchen, bathroom and lounge area. This really helped our family as it was somewhere we could all be together in a safe place.

Not all hospitals have Haven Rooms and knowing how much it helped our family, I think all hospitals should have one. We want to try and get a room firstly at our local Hospital and name it after Zackary and Karlene. The Together room.

Secondly i would also like to raise money to be able to buy a house, this house would be for families to use in tragic circumstances like ours or for families to have time away after life changing events. This house would be to use as a place of sanctuary and to give families time to be together. My daughter Karlene liked to help people and we were given a house for free due to circumstances and it helped us as a family to process things and to come together. Karlene would want us to help others like she would do on a daily basis.

So I am asking if you could please kindly donate and hopefully we can make this happen in memory of my beautiful daughter Karlene and adorable grandson Zackary.

As you can imagine this will cost thousands of pounds so every little helps even a £1 please donate what ever you can.

Over the next year i am doing many challanges.

Cycling solo from France to Durham In October to arrive home on what wouldve been my daughters birthday.

Cycling from John O’groats to Lands end on a TANDEM bike with my brother Paul.

These are just a few of the things i am going to do to raise this money and if you support my cause please donate if you can and share.
