Iʼve raised £604 to fund Alfie Golden vet treatment

    Story

Many of you already know Alfie and hopefully had a chance to enjoy his company when his café was open. He’s a bit of a legend around these parts.

Alfie is our 13-year-old Golden Retriever mix who has recently been diagnosed with glaucoma, caused by a tumour behind his right eye. The results of this diagnosis have left us with 2 options, to have him to put to sleep or to have a risky surgery to remove his eye, along with the tumour.

We are not ready to say goodbye to our Alfie, he’s his usual happy, dopey self, begging for any extra treats or snacks to be had, being a friends to all the daycare dogs, both old and new and still has his own café to take care of when it opens again so we want to do all we can to try and keep him here with us.

We thought we were doing the sensible thing by having him insured, but his insurance company have informed us there is no guarantee they will pay out for any of the cost of Alfie’s surgery, or even part of it. Alfie had to be referred to a specialist eye centre for this diagnosis and treatment and none of this comes cheap.

We understand that times are hard, but we also know how well loved Alfie is by all his many fans, around Manchester and beyond, and we would be so grateful to anyone who could spare a donation to help contribute to Alfie’s treatment.

Thanks for taking the time to visit Alfie's JustGiving page.

    UPDATE: 6th November

Great news! Alfie is home and doing well. He’s up, walking around, and demanding extra treats after all he’s been through! The tumor has been sent off for testing, and once we have the results, we’ll look at the next steps.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who has supported Alfie so far. Your kindness means the world and has made this journey easier for us and him. Every donation and message has lifted our spirits – thank you for being part of Alfie’s journey!

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, I will withdraw funds directly. It's the most efficient way to donate and saves time and costs.
