I never really know where to start with things like this but here we go. On 24th August 2006 I lost my dad to Oesophogeal cancer. Being a young 7 year old at the time, it came as a real shock, and even now I still struggle to come to terms with it. It is hands down the worst thing I've ever experienced and although I try to stay positive it's often a difficult thing to do.

For the past few years I have always tried to do something positive on my dad's anniversary to celebrate his memory and there is no better way than fundraising for the charities who helped him throughout his diagnosis and treatment.

This year, I have decided to raise money for Emmanuel House. Emmanuel House is Gateshead's free holistic therapy and drop in centre, providing free care for anyone affected by cancer or terminal illness. The centre is run by an amazing woman named Christine Deponio who has changed the lives of so many cancer patients and their familes. She has continued to support my family after losing my dad and I cannot thank her enough for everything she has done.

24th August 2016 will be the 10 year anniversary for my dad, and I have organised a party on Tynemouth Beach for friends and family to celebrate my dad's life. On top of this, I will also be taking part in a sponsored dip in the sea to help raise money for the charity. The event is open to anyone to come down and join in the celebrations or take part in the fundraising and every donation means so much no matter how big or small.
