Hi!! My name is Alex, my husband Charlie in what i can only describe as a moment of sheer madness has entered himself into the Zell Am See 70.3 mile Half Ironman. He will be swimming 1.8kms in Zell Am See lake, followed by a 90km cycle and then for sheer fun he well then run 21kms. For those of you who know him, you will know that he does not like the limelight and did not want to go about asking for sponsorship. There are so many amazing causes where do you even begin to start looking? But then last week we took a quick break off the beaten track and stayed in this most beautiful Eco Lodge in the hills above Silves in the Algarve. We met a beautiful young Dutch family who really care about this planet we inhabit and have set up the most fantastic eco lodge where we stayed in an old vintage gypsy van. It was a fantastic relaxing and recharging week albeit quite hot, but then on the friday we saw the wild fires come, we left for the UK on the sunday early morning as planned believing that the wild fires had been contained however little were we to know the devastation about to occur later that day when the fires reached and took their beautiful eco lodge and with it their hopes and dreams. Thank good ess they managed to escape with all of their animals unharmed.

These guys are the good people in life who have spent the last 12 years creating something amazing and eco friendly, everyone who stays at Brejeira cannot help but be educated and touched at how precious our planet is. But now they have lost everything by the hand they tried so hard to protect, but they are determined to start again from scratch with no water, no electricity everything has gone. We were honoured to be the last guests they had in the gypsy van and we would really like to do something for them to help them on their way to starting their dream again.
