I'm raising £10,000 for a community project

Help Me Climb Kilimanjaro for uHub and Bangor Food Bank

This August, I am taking on the challenge of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro to raise funds for two important local charities: uHub – Mental Health Charity and Bangor Food Bank & Community Support.

At 5,895 metres (19,341 feet), Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain in Africa and a tough test of endurance, altitude, and determination. It will be physically demanding, but my real motivation is to raise as much money as possible for two charities that provide vital support to people in our community.

Why These Charities?

uHub – Mental Health Charity provides counselling and mental health support for people of all ages across North Down and East Belfast. They offer over 700-800 counselling sessions per month and receive more than 100 new referrals every month, showing just how many people need help. They ensure that cost is never a barrier to getting support, providing funded therapy for those who need it most. They help people struggling with anxiety, depression, PTSD, bereavement, and many other mental health challenges, offering a safe and supportive space to rebuild their lives.

Bangor Food Bank & Community Support is a lifeline for families and individuals facing financial hardship. With the cost-of-living crisis making it harder for people to afford food, the food bank provides emergency food parcels, financial advice, and practical support. Many of the people they help never expected to need a food bank, but due to rising costs, job losses, or personal struggles, they have found themselves in desperate situations. The food bank is there for them when they have nowhere else to turn.
