Story

Dementia is one of the UK’s biggest health challenges, affecting millions and often leaving both those living with it and their carers feeling isolated. Support services are vital, yet they often struggle for funding—this is why every penny raised makes a difference.

I’m thrilled to finally have a place in the 2025 London Marathon, running for a cause close to my heart. I am raising money for an incredible charity supporting people with dementia and their carers, an initiative of and based at the United Reformed Church in Diss, which provides a welcoming, supportive space for those affected and their families. My mum, Gabrielle, is deeply involved, and she frequently updates me on the inspiring connections made at the Dementia Café—the laughter, the shared stories, and the friendships that form.

Now celebrating its 10th anniversary, the Diss Dementia Café continues to be a lifeline for so many, offering a warm, non-judgmental space filled with singing, games (including balloons!), gentle exercises, and plenty of tea, coffee, and hot food. The volunteers work tirelessly to create a place where people feel seen, supported, and valued. Beyond that, it also helps keep the church a relevant, vibrant social hub for the local community. Their dedication inspires me, and I’m proud to run this iconic race to help keep this vital community thriving!
