Akosombo United FC was established in July 2010 and currently playing in the Eastern Regional National Second Division League in Ghana.
We are an organisation nurturing talents and helping to change the lives of disadvantaged youths and children in Ghana through the promotion of sports, especially football, and the provision of computer literacy education.
Our ultimate aim is to provide this underprivileged young people the opportunity to realise their potentials and dreams, whether through the pursuit of a footballing career or computer literacy education so they can contribute to the development and emancipation of their impoverished communities.
So far, in pursuit of our vision, we have recruited and been supporting some 25 young people with passionate interest in pursuing either a career in football or developing computer and communication skills or both. We have in place a dedicated management and support team helping in our pursuit of the vision.
Our plan is to:
i. Build a credible football academy which would act as the nucleus for developing the football skills of the recruits to enable them fulfils their aspirations.
ii. To provide the requisite infrastructure and apparatus to enable the recruits and other young people in the Akosombo community pursue computer literacy education and facilitate development of their communication skills. This could be leveraged to tap into other worlds of career opportunities if they were unable to progress their footballing ambition.
Equipped with these basic skills, the youths would be empowered to chart their own career paths with confidence and enabled eventually, through their contributions, to make a positive impact in their community and the wider society.
The purpose for engaging in this fund-raising is to enable us, in the short term, acquire some essential football equipment (Football boots, football trainers, training kits, computers, etc.) that would enable the academy to operate effectively.
