Aida Celtic was born from a show of Palestinian solidarity at Celtic Park in August 2016. Over five years later, the Aida Celtic project continues to provide a sporting outlet for the kids in Aida Refugee camp as well as raise awareness of the plight of the Palestinian people.

Life in Aida refugee camp is extremely tough and unimaginable to most. The illegal military occupation sets a lingering fear and anxiety over the people. The daily restrictions make life deliberately complicated and hopeless, right down to children playing football.

Despite life under apartheid, Aida remains an extremely welcoming and steadfast community. Should you ever be fortunate enough to visit, you will be greeted by young and old and Aida will undoubtedly leave a lasting impression in your heart.

On 18th March, some of the Aida Celtic team will run the Palestine Marathon. The 'Freedom of Movement' marathon challenges the walls that confine its course, attracting guests from around the world to run a course that must loop back on itself because of the apartheid wall.

We are launching a fundraising campaign to allow supporters to sponsor those running the marathon. The funds raised will help to sustain the Aida Celtic academy by allowing them to provide coaching, buy equipment and rent pitches, amongst other necessary costs.

As well as this, the fundraiser will also support the Lajee Center's Ireland Tour 2022. This tour will take children from Aida to Ireland in September, where they will showcase Palestinian culture and arts through song and dance. It will be the first time that they escape military occupation and experience life without apartheid.
