Iʼve raised £922 to install a blOKes men's mental health bench at the Victoria Embankment!
- Nottingham
- Funded on Saturday, 19th November 2022
Don't have time to donate right now?
Story
Having been initially installed in January, Ricky Gervais' After Life bench, which was donated to the Arboretum and meant for anyone who has recently lost someone or who may be struggling with their mental health, was destroyed by vandals on Sunday 22nd May.
Being East Midlands-based, blOKes is aiming to help raise as much money as possible to both replace the bench and also provide additional streams of funding for Nottinghamshire-wide mental health schemes and initiatives. All of the money raised will be equally split and donated to Nottingham City Council and Nottinghamshire County Council to support local people who may be struggling with mental illness.

2 years agoWe are delighted to announce that we have officially teamed up with Nottingham City Council to install a brand-new blOKes bench on Victoria Embankment. Much like the one featured in the Netflix series Afterlife, this mental health awareness-raising bench will be designed to provide a tranquil, peaceful site for members of the local community to reflect and relax. Please help us reach our required target of £1,200 to allow this new bench and accompanying plaque to be installed by International Men's Day on Saturday 19th November.

2 years agoSince launching our After Life Bench JustGiving page in June, we have been overwhelmed by both the donations and the supportive messages we've received. Having spoken with representatives from Nottingham City Council this week, we have been informed that Netflix has since provided a replacement bench for the Arboretum. With this in mind, we are delighted to reveal that the money raised will now be going towards an exciting new project alongside Nottingham City Council, where we will be placing a blOKes bench in another park in the city!

So sad to see such a lovely idea, to support those in our community, be spoilt by a few nasty people. Hope you get what you need to replace it!
