Weʼve raised £570 to Snowdon Five Challenge for an Orphanage for HIV orphans in Tanzania
- Bala, Gwynedd, United Kingdom
- Funded on Monday, 4th September 2017

Story
HIV is still a major problem throughout Sub-Saharan Africa and results in so many orphans that their extended families are sometimes unable to cope. Bishop Matthew of South West Tanganyika (Tanzania) will be climbing Mount Kilimnajaro over 5 days in September to raise funds to build an orphanage in Sayuni. He is being sponsored within his Diocese.
I am attempting to mirror his challenge without the expense of travelling to Tanzania so that all money raised will go directly to support his cause. I am planning to climb Snowdon by five different routes over the same five days. This will be about the same distance as the climb of Kilimanjaro. The amount I hope to raise will be the equivalent of the cost of travel and the fees for climbing Kilimanjaro.

7 years agoThank you all you wonderful people who have supported my venture so far! Today I played badminton for a couple of hours and then swam some lengths of the pool. That's enough, aside from dog walking before the first ascent on Thursday by the Rhyd Ddu path. Unfortunately my JustGiving page has expired so a new page has been opened to cover the completion of the climbs as some of you have indicated that you still wish to donate. Thank you! 7 years agoThank you Anne and Yvonne. I managed a 3 hour hike yesterday at the pace of an elderly dog and 10 km bike ride in the rain today while helping marshal the Bala Triathlon. Not much to sing about but it keeps the legs moving. ;)

7 years agoThank you Andrew. I know you would have come to walk with me if the plan was to climb Snowdon 5 times in one day. Hey, ho, I'm not so lithe as that these days. :)
