I volunteer as a fundraiser for animal charity Acres Way re homing kennels based in Thundersley, Essex. A lot of you would have already met me if regular visitors as I run the shop onsite. We currently have Monty a 3 year old, Giant Schnauzer in our care. He was signed over to us after a marriage breakdown.
Unfortunately Monty comes with health issues this poor boy has very bad hips and after numerous vet visits, reports, medications it has been advised that the best thing for Monty is to have a Total Hip Replacement to help him become pain free. This type of surgery can only be performed by referral vet centres so the cost for such a specialised surgery is extremely high. Unfortunately being a small independent rescue we certainly don't have the money in the bank, so this is where we need your help.
Monty has bad hips on both sides but the referral centre have advised us just to have one surgery for the mean time, this will hopefully give him a lot more freedom and keep him free pain. We are already seeing muscle wastage in monty's back legs where he is unable to exercise like he should at his age.
Monty will need extensive surgery and lots of close monitoring by the referring vets. We are hoping to get the surgery performed by the team who work closely with supervet @ fitzpatrick referrals.
