Story

Help us raise the funds to save our 'Ablington Woods'

Ablington Woods were to be auctioned on 29th May this year, but with the swift intervention of Figheldean Parish Councillors Jackie Dryden (Vice Chair) and Tina Cole plus Carol Watton the then Parish Clerk, and with the help of our MP Claire Perry who intervened on our behalf, we managed to negotiate with the DIO (Department of Infrastructure Organisation) who were selling the woods to purchase them for £27,500 for the Parish. A 10% deposit was paid before the auction date (phew!) and we were given nine months to fund raise for the remainder.

We need to raise £32,000 to include solicitor fees and maintenance for the first year. The parish council will also need to find a contractor to maintain the woods; we will organise an annual fundraiser to contribute towards its upkeep.
