Story
I feel this experience would not only be a once in a lifetime opportunity to advance my skills in the ACF but to also gain valuable experience in leadership, teamwork and communication. Working with people from a range of backgrounds, and in environments unavailable at home, I feel that the experience will provide me with inspiration for my future army career. From the military area of Ripon, I am constantly reminded of the job being done on a day-to-day basis by many servicemen and women across the globe - I am keen to follow in their footsteps. As an enthusiastic participant in charity activity, I feel that I give plenty back to the community through the ACF. Further to this, being a member of the ACF means that I am constantly presented with interesting challenges to overcome in creative ways. The physical and mental challenges that the Cyprus trip will present are above all others I have been previously faced with, and I look forward to taking them on; I will be proudly representing my detachment and county in doing so. Finally, I hope to take my unique experiences of the Cyprus trip back to Yorkshire, and use the skills and gained to truly fulfil the Army Cadet Force Motto- and inspire the next generation of cadets to achieve. Inspiration is something that many cadets can often lack in certain challenging situations, and I hope that my experiences can go beyond my own benefit - I have been lucky enough to be presented with the opportunity and I intend to maximise the potential benefits that it may bring for both myself and others.
