I've raised £2000 to help people with travel and other essential needs

Most of us take it for granted that we can hop on a bus when we need to. For some people with no income, they can't even do that to get to a food project or a hospital appointment. At Community Cook Up, we run a food bank, and offer food and support work for people in need. We are raising funds to help those with no income so they can some money on their oyster card to get essential food banks and medical appointments. (We often top up £10 per person, so need to raise £200 per week.)
Some of our guests are living in tents, and others have been placed in hotels further away and need and need to travel to food banks in different areas. Some of these people have no income at all - perhaps because they have lost their job and are waiting for benefits, or because there are long delays for their immigration case to be assessed. The cost of living crisis is only making their situaton harder.
We also help people to get ID documents. One person recently was able to collect an ID card the next day with our support and financial assistance (which of course means he can start to apply for work or benefits and housing). We also help people with no income to replace their passports when necessary, so they are able to able to apply for what they are entitled to.

Your support can help those in the most need to survive, when there are no other ways they can access support. Thanks so much for helping.
