A CHORUS FOR EMMA
Two concerts will be happening across London and Edinburgh in 2025 which will be very special days of music making, in honour of the beloved Scottish Mezzo Soprano Emma Kerr (1987-2021).
The Edinburgh event will be at Greyfriar's Kirk and the London event at St Matthias Church, in close vicinity to the Guildhall School of Music of Music where Emma studied. Both events will bring together leading classical voices for an inspiring celebration of Emma’s life and her deep love for music.
All soloists and chorus members are Emma’s colleagues and friends from her time at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama as well as our national opera companies - English National Opera, Glyndebourne Opera, Scottish Opera and Garsington Opera. We are grateful for support from Ruth Whitehead Associates as well as Guildhall School of Music and Drama.) In the case of the Edinburgh event, we are delighted to be joined by the Chamber Choir of George Watsons College - where Emma's singing journey began at school.
Some of those who are unable to attend either event have requested the option to donate to the fund, and so we have set up this JustGiving page following their wishes, in order to provide a further platform to gather funds towards the Award.
Funds raised from this event will go towards The Emma Kerr Classical Singing Award, which supports aspiring Scottish Mezzo Sopranos who may otherwise struggle to attend the prestigious Oxenfoord Summer School (registered charity SC049216). Through this award, they will have the opportunity to work with industry greats, just as Emma did, who will help them to navigate their own musical journeys.
With the forecasted cost of a place on the course being at least £955 per year, we hope to raise enough funds to support the scholarship at Oxenfoord for as many years as we can....
