    Story

For many years now Bill and Barbara have lit up The Crossway for us all to enjoy and share their love of Christmas. Every year they have received donations towards their chosen local charity from the amazing people of Portchester who have been able to enjoy their flashing displays.

When Covid struck and had a massive impact on everyone, Bill and Barbara decided that their next display would raise funds to support the vital food bank service that was set up in Portchester.

One of their neighbours Julie was taking in food donations and worked so hard along with her husband to support the local families that were struggling. They both even went far so as to hand deliver food packages locally to support struggling familes throughout covid. And so, because of this Bill and Barbara decided to support as much as they could with their amazing Winter Wonderland displays.

Our local food pantry now fondly and aptly named “Woodsy’s in memory of another local hero who did so much for the community, supports the people of Portchester who are struggling.

    To date the amounts donated are: Grand Total £9022.82.made up as follows 20/21 £3230 , 21/22 £3000 , 22/23 £2792 !

A complete success to date and such invaluable funds to support Woodsy’s.

This year Bill and Barbara are really hoping to end the success of their campaign by making it to the grand total of 10K in 2023.

As a community the people of Portchester have really pulled together here to support both of these wonderful people and our local family's struggling during hard times.

Bill has been lighting up the crossway for many years now at his own expense and in his own time. Over the past couple of years he has had to call in help from local businesses to help out with the ever increasing demand on his electricity supply and to help out with the ladders and working at heights.

It would be amazing if once again we could all pull together and help Bill and Barbara achieve their goal and make the total donated to date come in at a whopping 10K!

As the lights go up we will post updates and of course keep everyone posted on the grand lighting up ceremony.

Thank you in advance for all of your generous donations and support xx
