I've raised £1500 to provide classes in mindful making to refugees who have made Glasgow their home during the Refugee Festival Scotland in June.

Vanilla Ink CIC is a unique jewellery school based in the heart of Glasgow’s East End. As a Community Interest Company we are a beyond profit organisation that puts community, acceptance and understanding at the heart of what we do. Our classes are aimed at all levels, from the complete beginner to seasoned professional.
We, like many others, have been hugely moved by the stories of the vast amounts of people who have made Glasgow their home due to being forcibly displaced.
During this years Refugee Festival Scotland, we will be offering free places on specially organised classes running at our school in Brook Street, Bridgeton, and at other venues across the city. Making is a great way to connect with people in the community, and our EDUCATE | INSPIRE | EMPOWER ethos is focused on giving people chances and opportunities that they may not ordinarily have.
Creating jewellery involves challenging techniques, but the focus and mindfulness involved can be greatly therapeutic, with each person also leaving each session with a huge sense of achievement.
To fund these activities some of our team and community are participating in this year's Glasgow Kiltwalk. If you know us you will know this is pushing all of our boundaries! But it is crucial to us to support this part of our community.
All monies raised will go to supporting these classes and anything beyond our target will help us to create similar classes beyond the Refugee Festival.
So please dig deep and help us support people in our community that really deserve a break.
