In January this year we became aware that Valerie Horwood from Fleet in Hampshire had been scammed to the tune of £140k plus! This was covered by ITV - This Morning programme

The scammer presented himself to her via Facebook pretending to be an old school friend who later in life became famous in a rock band hence his request to Valerie was to not tell anyone about their communication.

He asked if she could help him set up a business which would mean her sending over APPLE GIFT CARD VOUCHER CODES.

She agreed to help as he eluded that she was be investing and would get a return!

The family only found out as she was being put under so much pressure she resulted into having to request financial help from a family friend who alerted her daughter!

The trauma and the realisation of this crime affected her mentally resulting in her attempting to take her life 2 weeks after!

She continued to have support from a mental health team and her health was never the same.

The family realised she was losing weight and not eating properly but put it down to the trauma.

We have only just found out that she is terminally ill with pancreatic liver & spleen cancer!

The family are now full time caring for her at home

The Police didn’t act quick enough and lost all the communication from her mobile meaning we had no evidence!!

The Bank have said they can’t help!

Ombudsman are still working on the case!

The only business to recognise their responsibility to this despicable crime was Tesco!

Valerie has just celebrated her 81st birthday whilst suffering with this terrible illness and is at home and will not be receiving treatment for her cancer which is well advanced.

Sadly with this disease it means her needs to fulfil the rest of her life are very expensive and this is now the time that she could have done with her monies!
