Story
Cathy has lived and been active in Castlemilk and the local area all her adult life campaigning for social equality and justice in a system stacked against the poor.
Since 2014 she has been active with local group Castlemilk Against Austerity and works selfishly to enable the working class in her community to come together to fight the savage Westminster cuts that are affecting all our essential services.
Cathy has been involved in creating events to bring people together and encouraging discussion in a wide range of issues that affect all of our lives. Together with the rest of the group at CAA Cathy has organised poetry and song events as well as numerous music events showcasing mostly local acts.
Most recently Cathy has been a part of the group that created the CAA food solidarity markets where people are encouraged to share what they have. Bring what you can afford to share and take what you need for yourself being the ethos of the event. Smashing the stigma of foodbanks and the red tape required to access them.
All of this is designed to bring the community closer together in the fight against the Dickensian measures we are seeing Westminster impose on the poorest and most vulnerable almost us in society.
Cathy is now taking the brave step of taking the fight to the next level and will stand for election Glasgow City Council in Mays polls.
In order for her to compete against the well oiled and established political parties we need to raise £1000 for her campaign. This will be used to pay for leaflets, media service, hire of halls for public meetings, stationary and any other subsequent expenses during the 4 week campaign.
Cathy Milligan believes in people and that we should be allowed to participate in any decision making process that involves us.
If Cathy gets elected it will benefit the whole community by them being represented by someone they can easily identify with and who lives amongst them.

8 years agoI'd just like to thank everyone who has taken the time and donated to our campaign fund for Cathy's campaign for election to the city council. After a very kind donation of £155 this morning we reached our initial target and that together with the other personal donations will allow us to mount a serious challenge to the party political status quo. We don't have any party backing so the support of the people is very important to us. Thank you all once again. The crowd fund has 18 days to run so if anyone has a coin or two to spare....
