Story

s sIn 2019 I took the decision to run Edinburgh Marathon raising funds for ECHC Edinburgh’s Sick Kids charity.

We raised over £20,000 for the charity but due to covid the marathon was cancelled 2020 & 2021 and I never got to run the actual course and to complete the task had to do the miles “virtually” on my treadmill.

I wanted to do route in real life and had half considered doing it this year albeit with no real incentive.

A few years ago I met the Mitchell family (not Grant and Phil) although they think they are-but Jimmy aka Trump, his son Derek and grandson Leo.

Jimmy is 84 years young, a die hard Jambo who never misses a game home or away and has an infectious laugh.

As the years have gone on Jimmy’s ability to walk has deteriorated, when I first met him he relied on using Sticks, but is now needing a wheel chair.

Thankfully earlier this year Big Hearts arranged him a chair on loan.

In chatting with the Mitchell’s and Lockie it was discussed in buying an electric buggy for Jimmy, cost was prohibitive at £2500 but benefits were huge.

At this the incentive to run Edinburgh marathon on 29th May 2022 had presented themselves with a great opportunity to do it with a reason.

I’m looking for your help to raise £2500 to buy an electric buggy (picture below) for Jimmy to aid him in going to many more Hearts games home and away.

Hewrts legend Gary Locke said “Fantastic gesture from Bowser running the marathon in aid of an electric wheelchair which Jimmy badly needs if he’s going to keep getting to games! Please raise as much as we can for one of Hearts most loyal supporters ♥️🇱🇻”

Please donate what you can to assist in our pledge, with any surplus funds going to Big Hearts.

Thank you.
