Story
Our local pub is an Asset of Community Value and has now been closed for over 8 years. Our objective is to set up a non-profit structure with a one person one vote community pub for Blackheath Village.
PHASE 1:
The Blackheath Village Society is facilitating the first stage to save The Villagers Public House and submit a planning application to Waverley Borough Council. Our objective is to initially propose an "enabling development" to protect the property and local facilities, for the benefit of the village and wider community.
PHASE 2:
If successful, the local community will attempt to raise funding with the help of The Plunkett Foundation to purchase the site and convert the property into a smaller local pub with two small cottages and private gardens, which will be sold to provide the necessary finance to repay any loans.
PHASE 3:
Provide a local village pub for local residents and respect the quiet tranquility of Blackheath Village. By keeping control we aim to minimise traffic and noise, while offering good local food and ale with additional facilities for the community.

9 years agoThank you everyone. As a community we are of an opinion that we would rather try and control our own destiny, rather than looking at a derelict property that we have endured over the past 6 years and we will now develop our planning concepts with Waverley Borough Council.
