Story

We’re raising money for our dear friend Gemma who is dying from terminal spinal cancer. Gemma & her husband Kieran are hoping to make some final memories with their two young babies before she passes.

Gemma has fought a long hard battle but has received the devastating prognosis that the cancer has spread and is incurable. What started over 10 years ago as lung cancer with a rare form of cancer, adenoid cystic carcinoma, this has now metastasized to her bones in several locations. Gemma underwent spinal surgery October 2022 to stop paralysis as one of the tumours was pressing on her spinal cord. After a successful operation Gemma has undergone 2 lots of radiotherapy in different locations in a bid to slow the growth and prolong her life slightly so she can enjoy some more precious moments with her family.

She is an amazing mum to two young babies Evangeline 3 and Eleanor 2 who are unaware that their dear Mum will leave them soon forever. This is a heartbreaking situation where every bit of extra time is a blessing to them.

That’s why we, her friends, have decided to hike the Yorkshire three peaks to raise money for Gemma to create some lasting memories with Kieran and Evangeline and Eleanor. The Yorkshire three peaks challenge is a 24-mile circular route that covers the summits of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside, and Ingleborough in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. It is a tough and rewarding hike that requires stamina, endurance, and determination.

We hope that by doing this, we can bring some joy and happiness to Gemma and her family, and make the most of the time they have left together.

We would be very grateful if you could donate to our gofundme page. Every little bit helps, and we appreciate your generosity and kindness. Thank you for your support and compassion.
