In Hatfield Peverel, Essex, residents were outraged when our Planning Authority voted to build a new housing estate on the edge of our village in a lovely historic meadow, teeming with wildlife. We think this decision was wrong and flawed. So we want to raise funds to challenge the decision legally.

A lot could be hanging on this, as a 'test case' for our village. A series of similar planning applications are pending all around the village, that would change it into a small town.

The funds will be administered carefully by two informal 'trustees' (a Parish Councillor and a local school teacher). All funds raised will be used in the campaign and legal challenge to control unwanted housing developments.

Should any excess funds remain at the end of the campaign these will be donated to the RSPB and the 'Essex Field Club' who assisted us with objections on wildlife grounds. The meadow is a habitat and breeding ground for various red and amber listed species
