Story
Scripture Union Malawi (SUM) will be joining in the worldwide celebrations for the 150th anniversary of the founding of Scripture Union in London in 1867. Our celebration will take place on Saturday 8 July 2017 in Lilongwe. School Bible Clubs and their teachers from the Lilongwe area will be joining us along with our Youth, SU Ladies, Family Life groups, and many of our veteran members from then and now. We believe this will be a wonderful opportunity for a reunion to talk about good times past, to hear about what Scripture Union is planning for the next 150 years, and to raise funds to promote our vital ministry in Malawi.
Scripture Union Malawi is an organisation which has been valued for its integrity and commitment to discipleship and biblical living since its establishment in Malawi in the 1970s. For many people, it was their contact with SUM at school or in the Bible Club rallies or camps which started their own journey in the Christian faith; many of the key influencers in Malawi today can trace back their history with SUM.
There is an urgent need to raise about £500 to enable the team to hire equipment, arrange speakers, send out publicity and make the site ready for hundreds of children and invited guests.
