    Story

After hours of research on how we can make life easier for our Dad, we realised that due to lack of funding there wasn't many solutions for him. Our Dad is a loving man who doesn't have a bad bone in his body, but unfortunately was diagnosed with scleroderma . This is the thickening of the skin mainly affecting blood circulation. However it has progressed to Diffuse systemic sclerosis which also puts pressure on his main organs, causes breathlessness and increased heart rate, also harming the oesophagus, kidneys and digestive system. He relies on an oxygen machine for most hours of the day now, and tends to get breathless very easy, but he still plods on attending work everyday and trying his best to stay on the positive side! Unfortunately there is no cure for diffuse systemic sclerosis, and the disease usually worsens. We decided we wanted to do something to help, because despite us being unable to help our Dad individually - we want to raise awareness for the rare disease and increase the chance of the charity finding a cure. Scleroderma and Raynaud's UK is a charity not normally acknowledged by major fundraising events like the London marathon, due to its rareness. However the SRUK website states 'We can access up to 28p more for every £1 we spend on research' - so we are planning to raise £2000 by 13th July for a sky dive, in order to help better the lives of Scleroderma sufferers.

We understand that what our dad has is a terminal illness, and this is by far not a beg for any sympathy - we just want to try to do our part to help people who suffer with this serious disease. You do not ever believe that a loved one could ever develop a life threatening illness, until it happens to you. To prevent this to happen to anyone in the future please help us by sponsoring us on our sky dive, every penny helps!

    Thank you,
    Josie, Polly and Millie x
