Story
We have qualified for the National Finals of Table Cricket at Lords in June by winning the North West event at Old Trafford.(Lancs Cricket Club.)This game is aimed at people with Disabilities;it can be played by people with mobility problems.
We are a Special School serving the nine towns of Tameside. We have pupils with multi and complex learning needs. Our best pupils will one day be able to get a job but at the other end of the scale some will always require support and there are all levels in between. We encourage overcoming Disability and taking a full part in the community.
This particular group is simply 8L tutor group.
The start of the competition is 10.00a.m. at Lords so an overnight stop is essential. An overnighter in London is not cheap, especially as we cannot just book a budget hotel like a family would as they need supervision- one has fits so a parent is going but they can't mix with others.Four adults DBS checked will be in group rooms.Additionally there is food, petrol,Inner London charge.
School is on a tight budget for various reasons but mainly cutbacks to local authorities.
We also have some pupils who have qualified for the National Disability Athletic Finals by winning events at the North West Regional event at Sport City Manchester on Sunday 30th April. The Finals take place over a weekend in July at the University of Warwick.Another overnight stay and travel.
We need to fund raise to allow these pupils to travel to these events.
