In 2011, I came across a band named 'The Overtones'. They were made up of 5 man in their early thirties & sung in a way that I hadn't heard of before. I found out the style was harmonising in a 60s style of doo-wop, and I became glued. I found myself being dragged head first into what being a "fan" of a band was like. And I felt that that band & their music was their for me through my self-confidence issues throughout school. They also inspired some of my artwork in my final years of school. I plucked up the confidence to apply for college & the boys music has still been here for me. I passed my college courses & I now work as a part time artist. I couldn't imagine my life without their support and music, or what sort of person I would be..

The band is made up of 5 men, Darren Everest, Mike Crawshaw, Lachie Chapman, Mark Franks & Timmy Matley. I've met them 3 times & they're all absolutely wonderful. They're very warm and humorous people, and are very appreciative of fans support. Whenever I met them, I always seem to be lost for words, I get nervous and forget everything I want to say. But I have so much to say to them & so much to thank them for.
From giving me a theme tune in life, to something to listen to when I'm feeling low..their music truly brings me so much joy.

In September 2016, Timmy was diagnosed with skin cancer. He had an operation to remove lumps, but not long after, he found more. It breaks my heart to think what he, as a joyous and wonderful person, is going through at this time. His happiness on stage whilst performing is almost contagious & due to his ongoing treatment, he couldn't project that beautiful smile on stage in person for this Christmas Tour.

There's little I can do to help with a situation like this. But I love helping people. And I think Timmy needs all the support he can get. I have so much to thank the 5 Overtones for & I think the least I can do is this..
On 5th March 2017, I will be running 10k.
