A message from Richard's mum.
My beautiful, wonderful son Richard Clarke committed suicide on the 18th February. This is such a taboo subject but i feel there are so many people struggling out there that it needs talking about. He was 21 in November and hid his emotions so well. He was struggling to find a job and felt like no one wanted him, like he was invisible. He applied for everything and got nothing but rejections back. He was on jobseekers allowance and it wasn't enough for him to run his motorbike to get to interviews on, let alone pay his bills but he was too proud to tell me he didn't have enough money. He borrowed small sums of money from me and close friends and hated doing it. He couldn't pay it back. How many more are out there in this type of situation that we don't see? My son took his own life because he owed £356 and it is beyond heartbreaking. All he had to do was ask and i would give. I have lost a huge piece of me and my heart due to a system gone hugely wrong and a very proud boy in a very dark place that felt he couldn't get out. He thought suicide was the only and best way for everyone. Mental health is very real and very painful for the one dealing with it and the ones trying to help. Nothing can ever bring him back but no one should feel like this or get stuck in a situation like he did. No mother should ever have to bury one of her own...😭
