Story
My african pen pal - of over 10 years - is struggling to survive, and we must help him.

My friend, Obert Dube, was once the national poet of Zimbabwe. A teacher when i first met him, he used tell me about travelling around Africa and blessing people with his poems, but was soon cut short of his job. The unemployment rates in Zimbabwe stand at 95%, and Obert - a creative - decided to chase a career in music...

Obert made an album, paid a ‘producer’ all he had, but only two weeks after, the producer passed away. Obert was in poverty.

A passionate Arsenal fan, Obert struggled for while, selling his comedy to friends and family online, trying to get his kids through school, but recently disaster struck again, and his life became a downwards spiral when his daughter, Gugulethu Dube, was raped on Demember 19th, 2019. Born and raised in Zimbabwe, Obert was forced to take his daughter to Zambia for treatment, as a doctors’ strike was ongoing. He contacted the Police who were suffering a fuel shortage, and spent $600 helping the police pay for fuel and food while they carried out their investigations, as well as hundreds more to help his daughter in need.
Luckily, the culprit was caught, but Obert - a modest man - has, for the first time in 10 years of african life, had to ask me for money.

Gugulethu is a member of Mosi oa tunya High school in Victoria Falls. Obert pays US$400 per term for her to stay there, as well as $50 for his son. This totals out to $1250, excluding food, uniform, and stationary. Him and his wife, Patience, go days without eating in order to fund this. He still sells his poems and comedy albums, but he needs our help to get out of this hole.
All donations will go directly to him ❤️ And i will post his responses.
