When my daughter was born in 2011 she was born with a little something special. She had an extra chromosome t21more commonly know as Down Syndrome. Even though we had little knowledge of the syndrome we searched for information. I hoped I would find other families who had a child with additional needs that I could chat with and ask lots of questions. But I couldn't find any group in my local area.

With the help of our local sure start centre I set up my own group. Hoping that in time I would be able to offer my own experiences to newly diagnosed families.

As the years have gone by we have grown from strength to strength. Not just providing support but making life long friends along the way, not just for our unique children but their siblings and parents too.

Raising this money will provide Our Pride with the funds to be able to take our children and their families on amazing days out. Making fabulous memories.

I also would like to create a going home pack to distribute in the local hospitals for parents with a query diagnosis. To provide much needed advice and information.

I found when leaving the hospital I felt very alone and not sure we're to turn. Hopefully these packs will help new parents to have a look at the amazing journey they are about to take.
